Description
The army of the Egyptian Middle Kingdom (2050-1640 B.C.) was formed by recruiting one soldier for every one-hundred adult men. The army was led by senior officers personally selected by the Pharoah. The Egyptians were equipped with sickle swords, axes, spears, and javelins. All sword blades and spearheads were made of copper and bronze.
Around 1700 B.C a large part of Egypt was conquered by Asian invaders, the Semitic Hyskos and the Hurrians. The Hyskos changed the Egyptian military culture by the introduction of new technologies such as high quality bronze weapons and powerful composite bows.
