Painter's Secret:

To prevent "bridging" (where paint builds up against the edge of the mask), always spray away from the masking edge or apply several very light "mist" coats rather than one heavy "wet" coat. If you are masking over a very fresh finish, "detack" the film by sticking it to a clean piece of glass or your sleeve once before applying it to the model to further reduce the adhesive strength.
