Description

The Prolux Micro Tachometer (Part No: PX2710A) is a precision optical instrument designed for RC pilots and hobbyists to measure the rotational speed (RPM) of propellers and rotors. Its compact, pocket-sized design makes it an essential tool for tuning nitro engines, testing brushless motor efficiency, and ensuring safe operating speeds for various aircraft.

Key Features:

  • Broad Blade Compatibility: Features a selectable setting for 2 to 9 blades, allowing for accurate readings on everything from standard 2-blade props to complex multi-blade scale propellers and EDF (Electric Ducted Fan) units.
  • High RPM Range: Capable of measuring speeds up to 99,999 RPM, making it suitable for high-revving racing engines and high-kv brushless setups.
  • Optical Sensing: Uses a sensitive light sensor to detect RPM without any physical contact, ensuring there is no drag on the motor during testing.
  • Memory Function: Equipped with a "Peak RPM" memory feature that allows you to capture the highest speed reached during a run—useful for checking top-end lean out on nitro engines.
  • Auto Power-Off: Includes a battery-saving feature that automatically shuts the unit down after a period of inactivity.

Technical Specifications:

Usage Tip:

For the most accurate reading, hold the tachometer approximately 15cm to 30cm away from the rotating propeller while standing behind the aircraft for safety. Pro-Tip: Optical tachometers require a good light source to "see" the blades passing. If you are indoors, avoid fluorescent lighting, as the 50/60Hz flicker can interfere with the sensor; natural sunlight or a steady incandescent/LED flashlight works best.

Safety Warning: Never place the tachometer or your hands in the path of a rotating propeller. Always ensure the aircraft is properly restrained before performing high-RPM tests.
