Description
Give your model a classic, high-visibility finish with Oracover Scale Gold Yellow (2m x 60cm). This premium film is part of the Scale Series, which is specifically engineered to provide superior opacity compared to standard hobby films. The Scale Gold Yellow features a deeper, warmer hue than Cadmium Yellow—reminiscent of the iconic "Cub Yellow"—and contains a light-blocking layer that prevents the grain of dark balsa or plywood from showing through, ensuring a consistent, solid color across the entire airframe.
Key Features:
- Superior "Scale" Opacity: The integrated pigment-blocker ensures that overlaps and internal structures remain invisible, providing a professional "painted-on" look.
- Legendary Oracover Shrinkage: Offers precise, multi-directional heat-shrinking that allows the film to conform smoothly to difficult compound curves and wingtips.
- High Structural Stability: The multi-layer polyester base provides exceptional puncture resistance and adds significant torsional rigidity to open-frame wing structures.
- Chemical & Fuel Resistance: Fully resistant to glow fuel, petrol, and turbine oils, making it suitable for all power types from electric to high-performance internal combustion.
- Long-Term Tension: Engineered to resist sagging and wrinkling over time, maintaining its "drum-tight" finish even when stored in fluctuating temperatures.
Application Temperature Guide:
| Phase | Temperature Range | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Tacking | 100°C – 110°C | Bonds the adhesive to the surface without activating full shrinkage. |
| Shrinking | 130°C – 150°C | Tightens the film across open bays and removes surface wrinkles. |
| Detailing | Up to 180°C | Softens the film for extreme stretching around wing fillets and tips. |
Builder's Insight:
The Scale Gold Yellow is a "heavier" pigment film than the transparent ranges. When covering large sheeted areas (like a fully sheeted fuselage), start from the center and work outward to prevent air bubbles. If you encounter a persistent bubble, use a fine Oracover air-release needle to prick the film and then iron flat—the high opacity of this scale film will easily hide the tiny puncture.
