Description

The JP Hex Socket Starter Probe (Universal 30/60) (Part No: 6631056) is a specialized starter extension wand designed for nitro-powered RC helicopters. This tool connects your electric starter motor to the helicopter's engine starting shaft, allowing for a safe and consistent "remote" start. The "30/60" designation indicates it is engineered to handle the torque and reach requirements of .30 to .60 class nitro engines.

Key Features:

  • Universal Hex Socket: Features a precision-machined 6mm hex socket (standard for most nitro heli start shafts) that provides a secure, non-slip grip on the engine's one-way bearing hub.
  • Protective Sleeve: The shaft is typically encased in a free-spinning protective tube. This allows you to hold and steady the probe with your hand while the inner drive shaft spins at high RPM, providing much better control during the start sequence.
  • Extended Reach: Designed with enough length to clear the helicopter's canopy and rotor head, ensuring your hands and the starter motor stay well away from moving parts.
  • Durable Steel Construction: The internal drive shaft is made from high-tensile steel to resist twisting or "rounding off" under the high compression of a cold .60 size engine.
  • Universal Starter Fit: The end of the probe is designed to fit into standard RC starter motor "cups" or can be direct-mounted to starters with a 5mm or 6mm collet.

Safety & Usage Tip:

Before attempting to start your helicopter, always ensure the hex socket is fully seated on the start shaft. Engaging the starter while the probe is only partially seated can strip the hex or cause the probe to "kick out," potentially damaging the canopy or injuring the operator. Pro-Tip: Apply a small amount of dry PTFE lubricant to the inner shaft of the probe occasionally to ensure the protective sleeve spins freely and doesn't generate heat during long starting attempts.
