Description

The Futaba GYA450 is a specialized single-axis aircraft gyro that builds upon the precision of the GYA series by adding a dual servo output. While it remains a single-axis stabilizer (controlling either Pitch or Yaw), the twin outputs allow it to manage two servos simultaneously without a Y-harness. This is particularly beneficial for aircraft with dual elevator servos or dual rudder servos, ensuring both surfaces move in perfect synchronization with identical stabilization corrections.

Key Features:

  • Dual Servo Outputs: Designed to drive two servos on a single axis (e.g., two elevator halves), providing cleaner wiring and more robust signal delivery.
  • AVCS & Normal Modes: Features AVCS (Heading Hold) for "locked-in" precision—ideal for 3D flight—and Normal Mode for smooth, natural stabilization that counters wind gusts.
  • S.Bus/S.Bus2 Support: Can be integrated into an S.Bus system via a single cable, though it also supports standard PWM connections for traditional receivers.
  • Remote Gain Adjustment: Sensitivity can be tuned on-the-fly from your transmitter, allowing you to increase stability for landing and decrease it for high-speed passes.
  • MEMS Technology: Utilizes high-precision Micro-Electro-Mechanical Systems sensors for ultra-fast detection and correction of unwanted aircraft movement.

Technical Specifications:

Attribute Specification
Stabilization Axis Single Axis (Elevator or Rudder)
Outputs 2 Servo Ports (Twin Output)
Operating Voltage 4.0V – 8.4V (High Voltage Capable)
Dimensions 20.5 x 20.5 x 11.0mm
Weight 3.7g (0.13 oz)
Compatibility Digital & Analog Servos (Switchable)

Setup & Mounting Configuration:

The orientation of the GYA450 determines which axis it stabilizes. To stabilize the Rudder (Yaw), mount the gyro flat on its base. To stabilize the Elevator (Pitch), mount the gyro vertically on its side. Because this unit is often used for dual elevators, ensure both servos are the same model to prevent timing mismatches during rapid stabilization.
