This Limited Edition 2 Piece Set is one of only 2,000 sets produced worldwide by Corgi to Commemorate Edward Stobart 1954-2011.
From an early age Edward Stobart had the makings of a successful businessman, selling firewood and working for his father, Eddie Stobart, in the family agricultural business based in Hesket Newmarket in Cumbria.
Edward started with JCB's and worked on the construction of the M6 motorway. Using the delivery trucks from his father's agricultural company he expanded into haulage turning this side of the business into the Eddie Stobart haulage company in 1976. Moving to Greystone Road in Carlise he opened his first depot starting with just eight trucks and twelve employees. At the time the fleet consisted of a mixture of DAF 2200s and 2800s, a Seddon Atkinson and a Scania 111 named Julia. Over time Edward grew the business into the massive expansion that we know today with memorable trucks such as the Scania 4 Series modelled in this commemorative set that mark the peak of Edwards career.
By introducing smart trucks and drivers in uniform complete with shirt and tie he began to change the public's image of a dirty industry into an efficient, bright, clean and friendly company. This fresh image with its clean Stobart trucks began to get noticed which led to an interest in the man behind the brand. As the company and the fleet grew Edward responded to the demand for information by forming the official Stobart Members Club.
In March 2011 Edward sadly passed away and his family and friends received an overwhelming amount of condolences and support from Stobart fans.
The interest, popularity and fame that came with Edward's success marks the legacy he leaves behind with the Stobart Group as one of UK's leading transport and logistics providers.
